New NASA video released

Thursday, July 16, 2009, is the 40th anniversary of the lift-off of Apollo 11 to the moon. This mission marked the first attempt to send three astronauts to the moon, with two actually walking on the moon’s surface.Just getting under the wire of President John F. Kennedy’s commitment that the USA would land a man on the moon by the end of the decade, all the world watched with guarded breath as Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Edward “Buzz” Aldrin made moon orbit, and Armstrong and Aldrin took mankind’s first historic steps on the moon.

Most of the Apollo mission was committed to tape, but several years ago, it was revealed that the first generation tapes were lost, or misplaced. And only a couple of weeks ago, NASA announced that these high quality recordings had been found.

At that time, NASA promised that by the anniversary of the Apollo 11 mission, these tapes would be restored, and made public. They fulfilled this commitment, and you can see and / or download these at NASA’s Apollo 11. Be sure to check out some of these, they are much improved. Let us know what you think about them.
